The Personal Injury Commission is seeking applications from suitably qualified medical specialists and health providers wishing to be appointed as Medical Assessors to undertake medical assessments.

The Personal Injury Commission is seeking applications from suitably qualified medical specialists wishing to be appointed as Medical Assessors for the Commission to undertake medical assessments in the following medical disciplines:

  • Psychiatry
  • Occupational Medicine
  • Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • ENT Surgery
  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Urology
  • Other medical specialties may enquire about frequency of use

Key Requirements

  1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in your current medical specialty
  2. Ability to undertake medical assessments in the Motor Accidents, Workers Compensation and Police Officer Support Divisions
  3. Up to date training in Personal Injury modules associated with your medical specialty
  4. Medical assessments can be conducted in three ways:
    • in the Commission’s Medical Suites, 1 Oxford St Darlinghurst (preferred)
    • in your own rooms throughout Sydney, CBD, metro, regional and rural NSW
    • virtually via MS Teams or in person for Psychiatry
  5. Medical assessors are a statutory appointment made by the President of the Commission for a 3-year appointment, up to 28 February 2028.
