Legislative reform
The Commission is implementing amendments to workers compensation legislation and the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020
As part of workers compensation reform in NSW, the Workers Compensation Legislation Amendment (Reform and Modernisation) Bill 2025 and the Workers Compensation Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 were recently passed by NSW Parliament.
The reform package includes changes to the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020 and workers compensation legislation, with commencement dates to be advised.
While these changes are significant, the Commission will be taking the time to operationalise them in a considered and orderly way.
This includes updating rules and procedural directions, as well as possible changes to processes, forms and how we allocate matters. Where possible, we will seek to implement the changes using existing instruments to minimise change for tribunal users.
We will do this while continuing to deliver quality, timely, innovative and cost-effective justice for the injured workers of NSW.
As more information becomes available, including the commencement dates and implementation advice, the information will be published here, as well as in the Personal Injury Commission News.
