The Commission’s Annual Review contains information about the Commission’s yearly operations, performance and key achievements

The Personal Injury Commission’s Annual Review for 2024–25 is now available.

The Commission’s Annual Review has been prepared in accordance with the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020 and outlines our operations, performance and achievements for the 2024-25 reporting period.

It highlights that the Commission has continued to finalise more disputes than it received, despite an increase in filings across both the Motor Accidents and Workers Compensation divisions.

Key achievements in the reporting year included:

  • 17,298 dispute applications registered
  • 17,869 dispute applications finalised
  • 7,594 medical assessments
  • 1,676 medical panel conferences
  • 6,534 preliminary conferences
  • 2,314 conciliation conferences/arbitration hearings
  • 165 assessment conferences
  • 1,983 mediator conferences
  • 94% of workers compensation disputes and 95% of motor accidents disputes resolved without formal determination
  • 1,698 decisions published
  • responded to 20,816 calls and 15,972 emails seeking support
  • 66 editions of the Legal Bulletin and PIC News published to keep tribunal users informed
  • recognition for the delivery of the single digital platform, Pathway, with a Department of Customer Service Award for Excellence in Digital Delivery.

The Review also highlights the significant work undertaken by the Commission to establish the new Police Officer Support Scheme Division, and the enhancement of the Commission’s rules and procedural directions, including through the introduction of the 500-page limit.
